Extract attendance data for uploading into data base

Our school wants to keep all atendance records in Synergetic, our school data base, for future records. What is the easiest way to extract data in a form that can be uploaded into a data base program?

RE: Extract attendance data for uploading into data base

Steve,

This needs to be achieved through a attendance export utility. We have built some for CASES21 and EDSAS so far. Please submit a request through the standard support process for consideration

RE: Extract attendance data for uploading into data base

Hi Craig
This is someting I have been trying to get some action on with our regular support organisation for about 6 months. We need the attendance data to be written back to TASS.web. How do I get the ball rolling on this? Until we have this, I cant get the school to use the attendance module in Scholaris
Cheers

Hi,

Agree with these postes - our School will not move to using Scholaris attendance until data is entered directly into Synergetic. We are implementing SMS attendance communication, as we need direct insertion into Synergetic tables (or a SQL task that does it in real time).

Regards,

Nathan

RE: Extract attendance data for uploading into data base

Folks,
Just to explain the situation regarding exporting attendance back to any Admin system. To do that the Admin system needs to be able to import attendance data from a 3rd party source. We then need to create a seperate attendance export utility for each Admin system, as the data format required and business rules governing the import of that data vary from Admin system to Admin system. You then throw in local school business rules and it becomes a complicated exercise.
Currently I am working with other Admin systems and LMS vendors looking at adopting the new (but still draft) SIF-AU standards that will allow applications in the school infrastriucture zone to exchange data in a standard way and form. This is the way forward for not only exchanging attendance data, but also student, staff, assessment and achievement data, and all with minimla work for each vendor.
That said we are still quite a way from having all vendors on board and it could be 2-3 years before we see that happen. In the mean time we will look at each Admin system in turn to provide this attendance export/import utility.

We are also keen to move into this area - I am told our school admin system - Denbigh - is unlikely to accept external data...

Is there any way web parts could be developed so the school admin section could be accessed through Scholaris - rather than vice versa - in this instance...

Lindsay,

Web parts would need to be developed by Denbigh so they co-existed in the portal. We would not develop web parts to access and manage data in Denbigh as that would invalidate any support agreements you had with Denbigh, for the same reason we will never write back directly to an admin system, unless it was via an API interface

Can this be done via custom attendance reports?

Hi David,

Custom attendance reports are used to display attendance data in Scholaris. In Lindsay's case I believe he is looking to input attendance in Denbiegh via web parts in the portal, so the portal is the one stop shop.
