Malcolm is a Chartered Accountant with over 25 years’ experience in investment management, superannuation and consulting. Originally from Edinburgh where he completed his tertiary studies and trained with KPMG, Malcolm worked for the Royal Bank of Scotland, Newton Investment Management and Mellon Global Investments as Chief Operating Officer. He moved to Australia in 2002 to head up the local Mellon operation. Since 2004, he has run a small consultancy business specialising in supporting companies with a need for specialist business and financial experience.

 

 

Malcolm has worked with IT and Consulting businesses in the UK and Australia.

 

 

 

 

Peter Jon Hartshorne (B. Eng, MBA)

Chief Executive Officer

Appointed 22 December 2005

 

 

Peter Jon has over 25 years’ in the ICT Sector. Following completion of his tertiary studies at Latrobe University in 1981, Peter Jon completed a six year cadetship with the global consulting firm, McKinsey & Company, working in the USA, UK and the Middle East. When Peter Jon returned to Australia, he managed a series of major systems integration programs for Telstra Corporation Limited. In 1994, he became Managing Partner of the Infinity Group, specialists in CRM planning and execution and provider of professional recruiting services.

 

 

Peter Jon is a staunch advocate of Australian ICT companies launching successfully into global markets and now sits on the Board of six private companies. Previously, Peter Jon was Managing Director of ASX listed Blaze International Limited (until February 2008).

 

 

Peter Jon is also a director of The Kidney Health Foundation.

 

 

Justin Cantrill

Executive Director and General Manager - United Kindom

Appointed 25 July 2000

 

 

Justin brings over 11 years' experience as an IT professional focusing on the education market. Justin started his career as an IT engineer at prestigious John XXIII College, Mt Calremont and after 24 months was promoted to IT Manager.

 

 

In 1999, Justin formed Scholaris International Limited (formerly known as Solutions I.T. Group Limited) with fellow Director, Jim Watkins. Since the formation of the Company, Justin's hard working, hands-on approach to management has materially contributed to the Compnay's transformation from a relatively simple operation into a sophisticated business with multimillion-dollar international opportunities. Over this time Justin has been materially involved in lucrative projects such as the 40 million dollar, "100 Schools Project" for the Western Australian Department of Education.

 

 

Justin has been substantially involved in the international expansion of Scholaris along with the development and management of Scholaris Partners across Asia and the United Kindom.

 

 

 

 

David Ledger (MSDIA, MAICD, SFA (UK))

Non-Executive Director

Appointed 5 September 2007

 

 

David spent 20 years as a stockbroker working in Perth, London and Sydney.

 

 

David joined James Capel & Co in London selling Australian equities to UK and European institutional fund managers. In 1994, he joined BZW as a Director and senior advisor on their Australian equities desk. ABN AMRO acquired the Australian operations of BZW in 1997 and David remained in London with them, the last year spent running the team in the UK and Europe. In January 2001, David returned to Australia to run the Global Sales of Australian Equities for ABN AMRO. In 2002 he was made an Executive Director of the group. He left in May 2004.

 

 

David has completed studies with the Securities Institute of Australia, is a Master Stockbroker with the Securities & Derivatives Industry Association, is a Responsible Executive of the Australian Stock Exchange and a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He is a Non-Executive Director of ASX listed entity, Hydrotech International Limited. Previously, David was a Non-Executive Director of three ASX listed companies, Erongo Energy Limited (until July 2007), Arafura Pearls Holdings Limited (until September 2007) and Mint Wireless Limited (until June 2008). He is also an Executive Director and substantial shareholder of Bligh Capital Partners Pty Ltd, corporate advisors to the Company and the Offer.

 

 

 

 

Jim Watkins (AFIAM)

Non-Executive Director

Appointed 25 July 2000

 

 

In 1999, Jim formed Scholaris International Limited (formerly known as Solutions I.T. Group Limited) with fellow Director, Justin Cantrill. Jim has a qualified understanding of the education market from the perspective of executive, financial, ICT and administrative management having been in the positioon of a College Business Manager since 1991. Jim has worked at John XXIII College, Mt Claremont and Santa Maria College, Attadale over the last 16 years where he was responsible for the day-to-day commercial operations of the colleges, both of which have over 1,000 students, 150 staff and a turnover of $15 million per annum. Jim has been heavily involved in the development of ICT in education over that time and has served on a number of working parties in this area, both at a College and system level.

 

 

Prior to Jim's involvement in education, he had experience in banking, auditing and insolvency practices and he was also a business owner of companies in the manufacturing and retail industries. Jim is an Associate Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management..

 

 

 

 

Janine Rolfe (B. Econ, LLB (Hons))

Company Secretary

Janine is a corporate lawyer specialising in company secretarial services and is National Manager of Company Matters Pty Limited. She is the Company Secretary of ASX listed entities, WDS Limited, Pryme Oil and Gas Limited and Tishman Speyer Office Fund. Janine is also Company Secretary of charitable body, Qantas Foundation Trustee Limited.

 

 

Previously, Janine was a company secretary at Qantas Airways Limited where she was responsible for the day-to-day management of all public company issues arising in the Qantas Group. Prior to that, Janine was a Solicitor at Mallesons Stephens Jaques, working in the mergers and acquisitions and corporate advisory teams.

 

 

Janine is a Notary Public and a guest lecturer at Chartered Secretaries Australia.

Chetan Chopra (MBA, CA)

Chief Financial Officer

 

 

Chetan has over 20 years’ finance and accounting experience. Originally from India, he began his career with two global firms, KPMG and PricewaterhouseCoopers. Chetan gained further experience in the investment banking industry at Ambit RSM Private Ltd, where he played a pivotal role in building one of the biggest and most successful merger and acquisition practices in the Indian sub-continent. Chetan’s further prior experience also includes holding senior C-Class roles with a range Indian corporates including Dun & Bradstreet and start-up enterprises.

 

 

In 2006, Chetan became Chief Financial Officer of the Infinity Group, specialists in CRM planning and execution and provider of professional recruiting services.

 

 

 

 

Gary Kern (B.Ed., B.P.E., M.S.)

General Manager – Canada

 

 

Gary has been working with Scholaris since 2006. Gary oversees the partner ecosystem and the client services for 12 districts across Canada. Prior to joining Scholaris, Gary worked for over 12 years as a teacher, principal and district administrator. As a teacher, Gary sought new and innovative ways to engage students in their learning and this motivation transferred into his roles as a school principal and district administrator. Gary’s final role before joining Scholaris was to oversee both educational technology strategies and one-to-one laptop initiatives to a district with just over 30,000 students.

          

 

 

Bruce Madden

General Manager – Australia & New Zealand

 

 

Bruce has 17 years’ experience in the Asia Pacific IT industry, in particular the areas of e-Commerce and data integration from working for companies such as Progress Software, HAHT Commerce and UniServity.

 

 

Over the last five years, Bruce has been working in the Australian education market. He joined Scholaris in May 2005. Prior to his current position in the Company, Bruce was the Business Development Manager, responsible for the expansion and growth of Scholaris into the east coast of Australia and New Zealand. Now as the General Manager for the region, he has the overall responsibility for the development of Australian and New Zealand markets and the creation of an encompassing business partner channel to meet the growth objects for the markets.

 

 

Bruce is currently completing a Masters in Business Technology at the University of New South Wales.

 

Craig Tucker

Chief Technology Officer

 

 

Craig has over 30 years’ experience within the ICT market as a technical specialist and manager in national and international organisations. He spent 23 years working for Telstra as a Technical Specialist responsible for the installation and national support of leading edge telecommunications infrastructure, including the initial digital paging, mobile and ISDN networks. Prior to that, Craig spent over four years as a Master Engineer in Ericsson, leading and supporting a technical team responsible for installation and support of mobile internet infrastructure in over 20 major Asian telecommunications companies, as well as managing one of Ericsson’s global support hubs for their mobile internet product suite.

 

 

Craig has spent the last five years in the education ICT market, spending some time running his own business and then providing project management and technical support for the major “100 Schools” project at the Western Australian  Department of Education. Craig is currently responsible for the Scholaris product development and associated technologies in the Company.
